UNESCO-IHE is equipped with 11 waterless urinals and one urine-diversion-dehydrating (UDD) toilet. 5 IHE students and lecturers from 5 different countries were interviewed to find out their impressions of waterless urinals, UDD toilets, and the principles and possibilities of EcoSan.

Describes the functioning of the urine-diversion dehydrating (UDD) toilet. This toilet has been installed in May 2006 and helps to raise awareness about possibilities of waterless sanitation with the ultimate aim to recycle nutrients back to the land in accordance with the ecological sanitation (ecosan) approach.
